The Senedd agreed to digital waste tracking which comes into force from 1st October 2026 across Wales, in line with England. Scotland are required to comply from January 2027. Operators of permitted waste receiving sites must submit specified information about the waste they receive to their waste sites.

What are the Welsh requirements?

Permitted waste receiving facilities will be required to digitally submit details of every load received to sites from October 2026. This includes:

· Waste types – with the correct waste code

· Weight

· Disposal / recovery codes

· Container type and quantity

· PoPs codes and components (if applicable)

· Hazardous property codes and components (if applicable).

· Carrier details

· Receiver details
